HOW WE CHOOSE THE NAMES OF OUR SNEAKERS

Morrison is inspired by many concepts that give spirit to the brand. The color, the prints, the headlights, the music, the nineties... and we try to represent all of this in everything we do.

One of the aspects where we transmit these ideas is in the name of our shoes, which we have been asked about many times. In each of the collections we launch we try to introduce a name that has meaning for us. This is relevant because in our new summer 2020 collection , which we will launch on Monday, June 29, one of the models is named after Bel-Air.

Who hasn't heard of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

Everyone has seen or heard about the 90s series starring Will Smith, in which he played a teenager from Philadelphia who went to live with his uncles in one of the richest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Ángeles, Bel-Air (USA) It was one of the series that marked our childhood and that today we want to represent in the brand.

The new Morrison Nineties Bel-Air , like the series, are full of bright, bold and striking colors. Very 90s vibe with a very vintage print.

How do we relate ideas to the name of the shoes?

The idea is quite easy. Through the design of the shoe we seek inspiration. It is almost always like this. First we design and then we look for the perfect name, diving into our memories and experiences. In this way it is easy to find the ideal name and, in addition, many people can feel the same as us when they see that shoe.

Sometimes we find inspiration the other way around. We think of names that evoke memories and emotions, and we turn them into sneakers.

What are the Morrison sneakers that have names with meaning?

Throughout Morrison's history, the list of shoes with a name inspired by memories or things we like is long, but we will try to list a few that will surely bring back memories for all of you.

Zelda : This model is inspired by the video game from the late 80s and 90s. The Legend of Zelda. Surely many of you will remember its protagonist dressed in a green cape, crossing forests helping the Princess defend her kingdom.

Simba:
This name surely raises few doubts. Simba is the main character of the classic Disney trilogy “The Lion King”. What do the colors remind us of?

Vader: Any Star Wars fans in the room? Who doesn't know the evil Darth Vader, one of the best antagonists in history?

Sonic:
We play video games again. The fastest electric blue hedgehog in history has given its name to other of our sneakers.

Venom : Another really bad guy, antagonist of one of our favorite superheroes: Spider-Man. It was a sentient alien symbiote with an amorphous, semi-liquid form that survived by bonding with a host. Enough arguments to make a fuss in his name, right?

Saiyan: Who hasn't wanted to be a Super Saiyan at some point? Our shoes, yellow with red details, represent the essence that Goku, Vegeta and company transmitted when they became super warriors.

Blink: One of our all-time favorite groups, Blink 182. The band composed of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Scott Raynor have provided the soundtrack of our adolescence. They had to accompany us on this adventure.

Otto:
If you haven't seen The Simpsons, you're not from this planet. One of the longest-running series in history has also served as inspiration for one of our models. Do you remember the school bus driver? Indeed, Otto names some Morrisons.

The list is longer, but with these names you can get an idea of where we are going. Movies, series, music, nineties, video games...

This is just a piece of Morrison history. In every action, launch, collection or video there is inspiration from the reasons we have listed above.
